Most of it comes down to common sense. If you're going to study abroad then the likelihood is you're still quite young; so just go and enjoy it. Any problems that occur are usually quite easy to sort out and there will be someone to help you.

Low cost flights instead than trains, cheaper train tickets on the weekend,rooms in student's houses gives more possibilities to meet people and enjoy life abroad

Get yourself a BahnCard, which offers 50 % off at any train travel you do in Germany. If you go outside Germany, get RailPlus fo a small extra fee, and get the same service outside of Germany.
