Course: Undergraduate cerilee iNote 's
overall rating:

3.0/4
University of origin: University of Chicago, Chicago, United States
Country of nationality: United States
Area of study: Economics
Program: University Agreement
Period abroad: September 1999 - June 2000
1 Housing (rent housing in London, United Kingdom) (London, United Kingdom hotel)

Type of housing:
University housing NOT ON CAMPUS

Arranged by:
Host university

If returning, I would choose:

Why? While I wasn't very satisfied, there are few better alternatives in London. The facilities might have been improved if I went private, but it would have been more expensive and isolating.

3 Academic

Course recommendations:
I would not consider the work here especially rigourous. Classes for first years are not taken very seriously but second and third year classes are more competitive.

Personal spending habits:
London is very expensive. Prepared food/restaurants are more expensive than the U.S. but I compensated by learning how to cook! Accommodation, private or University, was comparable to U.S. University housing but not U.S. apartment living. Nightlife, including restaurants clubs or bars and transport to get home, is disgustingly more. Travel is a tricky one. I've spent more on travel here but that's because it costs so much less to fly from London to Europe than from the U.S.

The accessibility of student needs

6 Additional information

I wish I had known ...
It's tough to get a summer job in the U.S. from abroad. While OK with me, others were frustrated with the level theory and lack of applied work here. The University is a bit apathetic to students. Students from different places don't mix that much. It's not ill meant. It just happens. Meeting Brits, much less befriending them, is less common than you would believe.

In my opinion:
Most people loved it.

Important to choosing this university...
