Why? I lived at an apartment complex conveniently located across campus, and in addition it was very affordable.

Students equally interact with the local and student community

Nightlife take/s place both within and outside of the university/student environment

Course recommendations:
There were certain teachers that really stood out because, and almost everyone taking the same major new who to take for what courses. Overall, the level of the courses was decent, but not highly difficult.

The language of instruction was:
Finnish

My proficiency in the language of instruction:
before: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.)
after: No problems in any areas (including slang)

Learning the language of instruction was a factor in choosing my host country

I didn't want/need to work.

Personal spending habits:
Telephone costs went down because i shared the phone with my roommates. Local calls are for free and i had my family call me, so i had no expenses for long distance calls. The apartment i lived in was the cheapest in Las Cruces, and the amount i pay at the moment in Rotterdam does not even come close to what i paid in the US. My social life was a little more costly. You want to experience the most when you are abroad, so i took full advantage of my opportunities.

I wish I had known ...
The town is smaller than i expected, and in the weekends if you have no other obligations it can be boring. However there is always something to do, you just have to look for the events!

In my opinion:
Most people loved it.
