Get yourself out there. It was really easy for me to become more isolated from the people there and just hang out with Americans because there's *so many* Americans there. Go meet other people, meet other exchange students meet Spaniards.

I was not supposed to go ther but finally it was a incredible experience. A great advantage is that Alcala is really close to Madrid. So you don't pay as much as in Madrid and you can go out in Madrid whenever you want

I would advice students to be carefull when they choose their place to live. Try to meet the persons you will be living with before accepting the room. You've got plenty of rooms to rent (in flat already fournished)so you'll get one easily.
