Everybody speaks English, at least in Amsterdam, so that shouldn't held you back.Be patient, Dutch people plan everything with agenda's!!! but the international student community is great. Lot's of parties in student houses :)

Get yourself out there. It was really easy for me to become more isolated from the people there and just hang out with Americans because there's *so many* Americans there. Go meet other people, meet other exchange students meet Spaniards.

I was not supposed to go ther but finally it was a incredible experience. A great advantage is that Alcala is really close to Madrid. So you don't pay as much as in Madrid and you can go out in Madrid whenever you want

I would advice students to be carefull when they choose their place to live. Try to meet the persons you will be living with before accepting the room. You've got plenty of rooms to rent (in flat already fournished)so you'll get one easily.

Alcalá is very easy to get to from Madrid by bus, so transport problems are not an issue. It is easy to hop on a bus to Madrid for the odd night out as well. However, Alcalá is a very self-contained town, so you will not find yourself needing to v...

Be constantly aware of your bags, some people had things stolen. If at all possible plan longer trips around Europe at least two weeks in advance. The best deals are for triple and quadruple occupancy and stay at 1 star hotels if you can afford it...
