You have to know some things of the host language because there is hardly no other language spoken. Make a language course at the beginning of your stay to improove yourself and find new friends!

Ryanair fly directly from London Stansted to Valladolid, cheap and handy.
Local students are friendly and helpful but don't really go out of their way to make friends with you, all my friends, bar a few, were other foreign students

I would choose another town to live in because the people in Valladolid are not open to people who are not from there. It's extraordinarily difficult to make friends here-my main friends here are from the U.S. as well.

I love Valladolid- it's a little-big town, and it has a great university community. It offers a lot to do both socially and culturally, and the shopping is great.
